That no amount of proof will convince. That talking to these people is beneath one's dignity. And then — when we don't answer them we can hear "well, they do not even have any evidence", etc. It is a typical passive aggressive move and as always with these folks there is no really appropriate answer (the satisfying one of beating them to a pulp is — alas!!!! — foreclosed). So what I try to do is to do both — give some evidence and then say that discussing if the earth is or is not flat is not worth doing and walking away (keeping my hands in my pocket).
