It is "touching" that
this "Committee" is worried about Ukraine's image now! They
were
silent if not worse as today's free independent Ukraine was being born.
There
was much HYSTERIA and world wide cries of anti-Semitism and
declarations of
disaster -- (the break up of the Soviet Empire) -- and that this
was "ugly".
On Sunday October 23rd, 1994, the CBS television network, through its
Public
Affairs Program 60 MINUTES broadcast a twelve minute program titled The
Ugly
Face of Freedom. The host was Morley Safer and it was produced by
Jeffrey
Fager. The program was a misrepresentation of Western Ukraine. It was
quite
apparent that this documentary was a textbook example
of "Soviet-style" propaganda re: the relationship of
Ukrainians
with Jews in Ukraine.
This program was made possible by "connections" in
Lviv...hmmm,
who could that have been? This event has learning potential and should
be
viewed/discussed in all Ukrainian schools and universities of higher
learning.
