- People are encouraged to attend the Holodomor Conference scheduled for 27/28Sep2013 in Toronto.
- Mssrs. Klid and Motyl have done a masterful job in compiling a voluminous amount of information in the Holodomor Reader.
-Surprisingly, Viktor Yanukovych has decreed that Ukrainian organizations and state institutions pay tribute to Holodomor victims on 23Nov2013.
-Not surprisingly, as Myron Love reports, David Matas of B'nai Brith demonstrates his boundless hypocrisy by demanding that the CMHR include the creation of the state of Israel as a human rights lesson.

Moscow Patriarchate Shifts from Inclusive to Exclusive on Baptism of Rus   Window on Eurasia, 12Aug2013; Paul Goble [W.Z.]

- Paul Goble demonstrates that the recent Putin-Kirill gathering in Kyiv was all about Great Russian Empire politics rather than a 1025-year commemoration of Christianity in Rus. We note that even before Stalin sanctioned the resurrection of the Russian Orthodox Church under NKVD agent Alexii on 04Sep1943, in German-occupied Ukraine in May 1942 Eric Koch announced that in addition to the Autocephalous Ukrainian Church under Polikarp that the Autonomous Russian Church was allowed to exist under the leadership of Bishop Alexii. Thus, the battle between the pro-Russian Moscow Patriarchate and the pro-Ukraine-independence Autocephalous/Kyiv Patriarchate raged even in the darkest moments of WWII.

Nazi Empire-Building and the Holocaust in Ukraine  Wendy Lower (2005)

- Wendy Lower documents the German occupation in the Zhytomyr-Vinnytsia area in Ukraine during WWII from 1941 to 1944. Her research clearly indicates that the intent of Hitler's drang nach Osten (drive to the East) was to provide lebensraum (living space) for the expanding German empire by colonizing Ukraine at the expense of the indigenous population. As can be seen at Lubomyr Prytulak’s posting in XoXoL at http://www.xoxol.org/dem/declaration.html , both the intent and actions of the German occupying forces was genocidal in nature. Our summary highlights this aspect of the book and concentrates on the partisan movement -- the Ukrainian nationalist UPA versus the Soviet Red partisans directed by Stalin.
