- The shortened Educational version of Genocide Revealed with English voice-overs has been recently released and is ready for distribution to Canadian schools. Valentina Kuryliw (Chair, NHEC of UCC and Education Director, HREC of CIUS) informs us of a "Holodomor and Curricula" conference on 10-12May2013 in Toronto to facilitate this task. In my opinion, this film presents very convincing evidence of the genocidal nature of the Holodomor and should be distributed as widely and quickly as possible to the English-speaking world. Such Educational versions should be made available in Ukrainian, Russian, French, German, etc. Perhaps subtitle technology could be used to promote dissemination to a world-wide audience.

- Despite the contention of the Canadian Jewish News  and  the CMHR media relations manager, Maureen Fitzhenry, that they "have the support of most Ukrainian Canadian organizations", Tessa Vanderhart reports that the President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Paul Grod, has complained bitterly about the inadequate plans for the Holodomor display.

- Myron Petriw has condensed the Ukrainian-language article of Mykola Riabchuk to provide the English-language reader with an insight into the reality of the situation in Ukraine today. Since the incorporation of Ukraine into the Soviet Union in 1922, the CheKa/GPU/NKVD/KGB/FSB (and now SBU in Ukraine) has consistently fought against "bourgeois nationalism"  which translates into fighting against "Ukrainian independence". After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Ukrainian KGB morphed seamlessly into the SBU, but maintained its links to the Russian FSB. Since Viktor Yanukovych with his Ukrainophobic policies became president in 2010, SBU and FSB personnel have re-established ties, such that the SBU has defacto become an appendage of the FSB.

Losing my religion for equality…by Jimmy Carter  Women's Press, 25Jan2013; Jimmy Carter

- Because of the insistence of the leaders of the Baptist Church to continue discriminating against women, Jimmy Carter has severed his ties to the Southern Baptist Convention. In my opinion, he is not "losing his religion" -- he is bypassing the ritual trappings of organized religion to serve God directly. The Ukrainian churches and community would do well to heed President Carter's words.

Controversial B.C. lawyer Doug Christie dead at 66  CTV News, 12Mar2013; Canadian Press  [videos, comments, links]

- St. Patrick's Day commemorated the martyr death of the longest politically persecuted man in history -- John Demjanjuk died on 17Mar2012.
- In the future, human rights activists -- especially those fighting censorship and trying to preserve and promote freedom of speech -- will also commemorate the death of Douglas Christie, who died on 11Mar2013. On the CHRC page of my website, I have archived a tribute to Mr. Christie and updated the Introduction .

- The legal career of Doug Christie is especially relevant to the Ukrainian community, because he successfully defended Imre Finta, where the 12 person jury acquitted Mr. Finta of all war crimes charges (charged in 1987, acquitted in 1990, upheld by the Ontario Court of Appeal in 1992 and the Supreme Court of Canada in 1994). This was the first-and-only war crimes trial prosecuted by Canada's War Crimes unit, which was established following the recommendation of the Deschenes Commission in 1986. Thereafter, criminal prosecutions of imaginary "Nazi war criminals" were abandoned in favour of the denaturalization and deportation process (modeled after the John Demjanjuk case in the United States), which fraudulently equates immigration infractions with war criminality.

- Certainly, Mr. Christie can proudly take his place amongst the Righteous of the World.
