Right and Wrong
Re: “Lefties and libidos gone wild,” Ezra Levant, July 5, 2011.
While libidinous impulses might lead to bedevilling consequences for
lefties in France, Canada and the U.S., Britain at least has managed to
have its share of right-wing satyrs, including Tory cabinet ministers
like John Profumo and Alan Clark, and Prime Minister John Major.
Profumo bedded a teenage showgirl; Clark simultaneously had an affair
with a judge’s wife and her two daughters. Major carried on a secret
four-year romance with fellow Tory MP Edwina Currie. In fact, the
Conservatives’ landslide defeat in 1997 was largely ascribed to
widespread anti-sleaze sentiment. Libidos, it seems, will ride
roughshod over that old, artificial left-right paradigm.

caught, too. Too much power leads to incivility.)
