COGNITIVE DISSONANCE?

Re: Little cause for optimism about Libya,” Peter Worthington,  Sun, June 29, 2011.
Peter Worthington speculates over where Col. Gadhafi might find  sanctuary outside Libya. Libya itself once offered sanctuary to ousted Ugandan dictator Idi Amin before he moved on to Saudi Arabia. How the rigidly doctrinaire Muslim kingdom -- where woman are  prohibited from driving cars -- accommodated an exile with a  documented history of cannibalism based on animist beliefs has long baffled me. Perhaps the Guinness Book of Records should host a  section devoted to listing the greatest examples of national cognitive dissonance?

(They didn’t exhibit dissonance. That’s the point, right?)
