Kenney curry
In its zeal to curry favour with minority voters, Stephen
Harper’s Conservatives are known to have sent New Year’s
greeting cards to persons it was assumed might be, say, Jewish, Chinese
or of some other targeted religion or ethnicity; at times, to the
annoyance and even distress of the recipients. Such zeal apparently
moved an aide in the Immigration Minister Jason Kenney’s office to
cross a line by using departmental letterhead on stationery to suggest
more recent overtures have the imprimatur of the government itself.
Soon, opposition members in Parliament will be calling on the minister
to resign. No doubt, he has already received a memo from the PMO
reminding him to avoid being photographed in an outdoor setting and
seen brooding behind a pair of dark shades whilst ruefully puffing on a
cigarette.

(This is nothing new.
MPs are always looking for reasons to demand resignations. We wish
they’d look for reasons to just shut up and do their jobs.)
