Lieberman needs to agree
Re: "Israeli foreign minister says peace not possible," Edmonton
Journal, Sept.06, 2010.
With a new round of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks underway, the
question now is whether Israeli leaders will at least stall their
ongoing building program for Jewish colonists on occupied Palestinian
land.
A diplomatic pause in building yet more Jewish settlements, long
regarded as one of the biggest roadblocks to lasting peace, there may
be, but Israel's foreign minister, the outspoken Avigdor Lieberman, has
been anything but subtle, bluntly telling his fellow attendees at an
Yisrael Beiteinu event that any real peace between Jews and Arabs
remains "unattainable" for generations.
Lieberman has long opposed the peace talks, insisting they are futile,
that they, in fact, "hurt Israel."
If Israel's foreign minister isn't onside with the peace talks, how
likely is it they'll be substantive or have any chance of succeeding?

Hope for peace . . .
With a new round of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks underway, the
question now is how Israeli leaders will deal with ongoing building
program for Jewish colonists on occupied Palestinian land. Israel’s
Foreign Minister, the outspoken Avigdor Lieberman, has been anything
but subtle, bluntly telling his fellow attendees at an Yisrael Beiteinu
event that any real peace between Jews and Arabs remains “unattainable”
for generations.
Mr. Lieberman has long opposed the peace talks, insisting they are
futile, that they, in fact, “hurt Israel.” If Israel’s Foreign Minister
isn’t onside with the peace talks, how likely is it they’ll be
substantive or have any chance of succeeding?
