Agenda-driven
Re: "Not political? Who is Harper kidding?" Don Martin, Opinion, Aug.
19, 2010.
Pat Stogran, the able and popular veterans' ombudsman, is being let go
by the Harper government. The equally able RCMP superintendent Marty
Cheliak has been removed from his job as acting director of the RCMP's
firearms program. Munir Sheikh, former chief of Statistics Canada, quit
after Industry Minister Tony Clement gave us the false impression he
was onside with the decision to abandon a compulsory long-form census.
Will CRTC chair Konrad von Finckenstein soon follow them out the door?
What we've got here is a government hell-bent on regime change in
Canada's public service to give it an ideological neo-conservative
makeover.
