Hate

Re: "Israel facing revival of deep-seated hate," Salim Mansur, London Free Press, 14 August 2010.

After sourcing his understanding of Jews and anti-Semitism to philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, a Marxist and hardcore atheist notorious for serving as an apologist for totalitarian monsters like Stalin and Mao, Salim Mansur then piously invokes "the fallen nature of the world that makes of Israel a light unto nations." Religion for Sartre was -- no pun intended -- a form of bad faith; he regarded belief in the supernatural as cowardly escapism. Not a very sturdy peg to hang one's piety on.
