Barack Obama’s White House criticized BP CEO Tony Hayward for taking
time off from dealing with the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf to attend
a weekend yacht race. Had this been Bush 43’s White House would anyone
have noticed, cared, or let alone commented? In the 2,535 or so days he
served as president, most of them in war-time, George Bush spent all or
part of 908 days ,or 36% of his time, on holiday. Even after Hurricane
Katrina drowned New Orleans, Bush continued with his summer vacation.
Bush wouldn’t have minded Tony Hayward taking a weekend off to relax;
in fact, he would’ve probably complimented on him for “doing a heckuva
job.”
