Stand firm on G-8

The Editor:

Re: "Stand firm on G-8," Editorial, The Calgary Sun, September 14, 2001.

The hairy-chested Sun editorialist who insists in passing that Canada move its embassy "from Tel Aviv to Israel's capital city Jerusalem [sic] -- where it should be" is being gratuitously provocative, just when we need to lower the temperature in terms of relations between the West and the Muslim world.

When Israeli Mossad agents employ real or bogus Canadian passports as cover for their missions, they put at risk Albertans, some of them good friends and colleagues who work in in the Middle East. Moving our embassy to Jerusalem would have the same effect, especially now.

How about standing firm for common sense?
