Reports have reached us that plans are under way to cut or even eliminate Ukrainian language broadcasts to Ukraine as presently being carried by RCI.

Such a measure, whether couched in cost-saving terms or otherwise, is most unwelcome. There is no palpable justification for making such a cut, particularly not in light of some of the expenditures the federal government has been making over the past decade. One such expenditure which is totally unconscionable is the pursuit of so-called "war criminals" from the Second World War era. This McCarthyite witch-hunt, costing taxpayers well over 50 million dollars, has done more harm to the justice and citizenship areas of our society than any amount of benefit one could conjure up to defend its perverted objectives. You should also note that the latter "denaturalization and deportation" program is aimed squarely at the Ukrainian Canadian community.

So, are you telling us that our community is to suffer yet another unnecessary indignity with removal of the above noted programming?
