Dear Mr. McNally:

By way of background, our organization has over 1,000 members in Alberta and about 4,000 Canada-wide. One of our objects is to foster the finest ideals of a free, democratic and parliamentary society guided by due process and the rule of law.

Comments attributed to you made in March this year have just now come to our attention. In these comments you urged the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration to proceed to deport Mr. Helmut Oberlander. Allegedly, you referred to him as a "Nazi war criminal."

Sir, it is very obvious to us that you have not done any significant amount of research into this particular area. To assist you, I am faxing to your office a copy of a position paper that our organization prepared recently concerning the evils of the denaturalization and deportation process. I would be pleased to discuss this with you at your convenience.

Once you have read over this paper, and once you have discussed this topic with knowledgeable people, I think you should reconsider your statements and take appropriate corrective action.

Wishing you much success in your principled stand in the Alliance leadership turmoil, we remain,

Yours truly,
Eugene Harasymiw, LL.B.
