Dear Mr. Romaniw:

As you may be aware, I am a member of the Congress’ Justice Committee on Denaturalization and Deportation.

I am faxing to you, along with this letter, a copy of a letter I received from Anne McLellan, the federal Justice Minister, dated May 3, 1999. The last full paragraph of that letter makes reference to a meeting you apparently had with Mr. Terry Beitner, Acting Director of the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Section of the Department of Justice on April 6, 1999.

I am sure you will agree that all members of our committee are anxious to hear the full results of that meeting. In particular: who called the meeting? for what purposes? what was discussed? what “arrangements” may have been made? what is meant by the “continuing dialogue with your [Ukrainian] community”? Your response at your very earliest convenience is expected. Thank you.

Yours truly,

Eugene Harasymiw
Justice Committee member
