Subject: letter re "suspected war criminals"
To the editor:
How disappointing to see that the Edmonton Journal has stooped to yellow journalism with Randy Boswell's August 17, 2005 article [subtitled] "Britian may have sent suspected war criminals here."
This article is the stuff witch hunts are made of. The "sources" used are not only questionable but in most cases have already been discredited by Canadian authorities.
It is incomprehensible that a supposedly reputable paper would smear an identifiable group like the Ukrainians, who not only suffered untold losses during the world wars and interwar period, but who also have contributed so much to this country.
As a Canadian I deeply resent your gall in publishing false allegations based on sloppy research and, as a descendent of Ukrainian pioneers, the blatant hate-mongering against my ethnic ancestry.
Your lack of journalistic integrity is a disgrace to all that Canadians hold dear.
Sincerely,
Paulette MacQuarrie
