REVISED DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS ON CROSS-CANADA PUBLIC HEARINGS

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration will meet to conduct consultations on “A New Citizenship Act”, “Recognition of the International Experience and Credentials of Immigrants” and “Family Reunification Issues”.

The Committee intends to hold public hearings in the following places: The week of April 4 to 8, 2005: Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton and Victoria. The week of April 11 to 15, 2005: Vancouver, Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo. The week of April 18 to 22, 2005: St. John’s, Halifax, Charlottetown, Fredericton and Montreal.

Individuals and organizations that wish to be considered to make an oral presentation at each location should contact the Committee Clerk by 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 9, 2005. Those who do not wish to make an oral presentation but who are interested in commenting on the issues may send their submission to the Clerk at the address below by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 15, 2005.

Witnesses who are selected to make an oral submission to the Committee will have seven minutes for their presentation and if possible, witnesses should submit their presentation to the Clerk in writing at least seven working days before their appearance.
