Abortion is not an issue which belongs in an election campaign. For many people, it is a religious and/or moral issue. For others, it is a matter of individual rights. To most, it is matter of indifference, since it is irrelevant to their own particular situation.
Pro-life adherents claim that abortion is the murder of an unborn fetus. Pro-choice adherents maintain that the right of a woman to choose whether or not to terminate a pregnancy supercedes the right of the fetus to develop and be born. Both the pro-life and the pro-choice factions are trying to use the political process to impose their views on the rest of society.
We would suggest that both factions debate the issue within society and not try to blackmail politicians into supporting their positions.
