Spoiled brats
Searching for what motivated hundreds of 20-year-olds, while thousands
of their peers watched smugly, to rampage in downtown Vancouver on
Wednesday [15Jun2011] after the Stanley Cup final, I conclude it could
largely be put down to an irrational sense of entitlement -- like a
spoiled brat denied a certain bauble who takes a hammer to his other
toys, and in a fit of fury, destroys all of them. Punishment to fit
this crime would be to form chain gangs from all these hundreds of
vandals, then put them to work in a quarry busting rocks with a
sledgehammer in the hot sun.
