Sheen: A poor imitation of Dino
Why the fascination with Charlie Sheen? He has simply ripped off Dean
Martin's befuddled drunken uncle persona from his popular TV show of
the 1960s and tailored it for a more indulgent 21st-century audience.
That includes the conflation of his private life with the character he
plays on Two and a Half Men. Unfortunately, his ability to carry a tune
is risible when compared to the lush kind of vocal delivery that Dean
Martin was capable of.
Indeed, Mr. Sheen's forte seems to be bizarre one-liners; perfect for
an era when tweeting is all the rage.
