Time of reckoning
Years ago, I watched this animated cartoon where a character wakes in
the middle of the night on hearing a train whistle close by. He follows
the noise to his closet, and throws open the door. He finds himself
peering into a starless night where he sees the single beam of the
headlight from a huge, black locomotive improbably bearing down on him.
For the cartoon character, read the dictatorships across the Arab
world; for the train locomotive, read their time of political reckoning
drawing near as the broad masses rally against them.
