A U.S. senator’s ‘chilling’
message

The U.S. is engaged in unfinished wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and
beginning to get ever more deeply involved in wars in Pakistan and
Yemen. What would truly really bankrupt the U.S. Treasury would be for
the U.S. to launch a full-scale attack on Iran, as the demagogic
Senator Lindsey Graham is advocating.
Oil prices skyrocketing to $300 a barrel as trans-shipment of oil
supplies from the Middle East were blocked indefinitely would send the
world economy into a tailspin.
U.S. forces would likely crush Iran using overwhelming air power; but
it would be the mother of all pyrrhic victories. With America turned
into an economic basket case and starting to resemble a movie lot for a
Mad Max sequel.

Fighting two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time isn’t enough
for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. The Republican from South Carolina
wants to launch a military attack on Iran to “neuter” its nuclear
program, “sink their navy, destroy their air force and deliver a
decisive blow to the Revolutionary Guard.”
And the good Senator delivered his chilling message to a Halifax
International Security Forum audience that included such top Canadian
government officials as Public Safety Minister Vic Toews and Defence
Minister Peter MacKay. Sadly, neither of them saw fit to distance
Canada from such war-like insanity.
In a more enlightened age, Graham would have been arrested by the RCMP
for hate crimes and deported.
