Salim Mansur complains of influence exerted by the “ideology of
Islamism” on Canadian politics “undermining Canada’s support for
Israel.”
As if such support within Canada were some monolithic core value
uniformly embraced across the entire Canadian body politic.
Zionists are just one of many titles making up our multicultural
mosaic. Indeed the annual BBC World Service poll out in April found
that only 23% of Canadians held a positive view of Israel, while 38%
viewed it negatively.
With diversity come different and dissenting viewpoints, an
intellectual pluralism that may be too rich for some palates.
