The e-mail that shook the
Braidwood inquiry
Ian Mulgrew concludes his June 20 column on the last-minute disclosure
of a telltale RCMP e-mail at the heart of the Dziekanski affair by
saying, "That was not an 'oversight.' It was professional incompetence
or a cover-up."
Of course, the latter is the far more serious charge. But considering
how events have unfolded -- beginning with the seizure by RCMP officers
of the video of Robert Dziekanski's death by Tasering and ending with
the current woeful legal impasse the Braidwood commission finds itself
in -- I'd wager most Canadians catch a whiff of bungled cover-up in the
air.
