Surrey parade honours terrorist

Re: Mindelle Jacobs' Friday column. There was a grand parade in Surrey, B.C. April 07, 2007 that included several floats honouring Talwinder Parmar -- mastermind of the 1985 Air India bombing plot -- among its list of revered Sikh saints and martyrs. The president of the Sikh temple that organized the parade afterwards declared that Parmar was a "great man." Would we even have heard of this had Gordon Campbell and other notables not marched in the parade? Ah, well. We've always been a sectarian society.
