Dear Subscribers:
I attended the Montreal book launching of Old Wounds, by Troper and
Weinfeld. With all due respect to Mr. Abramson and Mrs. Diakun-Thibault, I
was not at all impressed with the book. In my opinion, it is a whitewash of
the actions of various Jewish organizations and individuals in instigating
and promoting the whole Deschenes Commission debacle. It is their official
politically-correct version of the issue.
Indeed, at the time, I complained to John Gregorovich (head of the
Civil Liberties Commission attempting to counter defamation of Ukrainians)
and encouraged him to find someone in his group to write a book on the
subject from the Ukrainian point of view. He claimed that he could not find
anyone with the courage or inclination to do so.
It should be remembered that the vast majority of denunciations
examined by Justice Deschenes were "frivolous, mischievous, and even
malicious". Indeed, in 96% of the cases examined, the innocent people who
were denounced as war criminals were not even informed that they had been
investigated. And we call ourselves a democracy?
In my opinion, the whole sorry mess was an attempt (partially
successful) to subvert the Canadian system of jurisprudence as occurred in
the United States by the Office of Special Investigations in the case of
John Demjanjuk.
