Demjanjuk
trial session postponed over health
A session in John Demjanjuk's trial over his alleged activities as a
guard at the Nazis' Sobibor death camp has been postponed because of
the defendant's poor health.
Presiding Judge Ralph Alt told the Munich state court Wednesday that a
prison doctor said the 90-year-old Demjanjuk was suffering from a
headache and backache.
Demjanjuk was deported from the U.S. to Germany in May 2009. He suffers
from several medical problems but was declared fit enough to stand
trial.
About a dozen sessions already have been canceled due to health issues.
The next session is scheduled for Oct. 25, 2010.
The retired Ohio autoworker is charged with 28,060 counts of accessory
to murder. Demjanjuk denies ever having been a guard anywhere.
